Styrotech CNC Ltd have forged a name as leaders for 2D and 3D shaping and can offer a variety of material solutions to meet your specific prototyping, tooling or cutting requirements.

Styrotech can offer the complete tooling process in a variety of material systems. Plugs or moulds can be taken through to a finished Duratec state or simply machine finished.
Our systems have been developed specifically to meet the requirements of large scale marine manufacturing techniques such as the use of autoclaves and our extensive experience in tooling includes numerous hulls, masts and booms often 25m or larger. We are committed to working closely with our clients delivering quality, accurate results.

With full 5 Axis machining capacity, Styrotech CNC are experienced tooling providers for the marine, foundry, automotive and aerospace industries. A common service provided by Styrotech CNC is prototyping for form studies of new product designs. Typical materials include polystyrene, urethane, MDF and Tooling boards with a strong history in CNC machining for composite tooling.

Styrotech CNC has over 13 years experience in precision sheet or profile cutting MDF, Plywood and Plastic sheets. We have machines dedicated to 2D profile cutting and able to comfortably handle standard sheet sizes (1220x2440mm) or up to a maximum of 6000mm long. Our software enables us to quickly and clearly engrave guidelines or labels into the sheets to simplify assemblies whilst maximizing the yield from what is often costly material.
With a long history in the sailing and windsurfing industry, Styrotech CNC Ltd has a well respected name for the design and machining of rudder and centerboard moulds and cores based on NACA profiles.
Typical core materials include closed cell foams such as PVC, Urethane, Divinycell, Airex as well as Cedar and other timbers.
Regular feed back from clients suggests that whether it be CNC machining a mould or a foil core, compared to conventional methods, Styrotechs services are often more economical and always achieve a level of accuracy not possible otherwise.
As well as offering fast and high precision 3 axis sawing for sheets and panels, Styrotech is also able to offer a unique service of 5 axis saw cutting. With machine travel of 5.6m x 1.4m x 0.8m we are capable of adding saw cuts to very large objects or pieces of timber. This is an excellent alternative for custom edging jobs where the numbers do not warrant the manufacturing of a custom cutting bit, yet precision and repeatability is still essential. The process is also suitable for creating scarf joints for boat frames.
Foundry patterns for sand casting or cavity and core boxes may be produced from a variety of materials including CibaTool, MDF and Polystyrene. Parts are typically machined within 0.2mm tolerance depending on the material and at a fraction of the cost and time of conventional methods. A common application is the machining of keel bulb plugs where design checks for shrinkage allowance are essential.

We are able to cut components for model makers such as half scale ships and 3D topographic models. Whilst styrotech does not offer the complete service in house, talk to us to be connected with highly skilled craftsman who can take our machined components through to completion.
Styrotech CNC Ltd are experienced machinists of most types of plastics, and are well set up to handle large runs of repetitive trimming such as the removal of flashing or surplus material from vacuum formed or rotationally moulded parts. This may also include the addition of slots, rebates, housings, engravings or other fine features where consistency and repeatability is crucial. We have a variety of tools and cutting methods to accommodate for most plastic types and sandwich boards such as Acetal, Acrylic, ABS, Nylon, Polyethylene, Polyester, Polypropylene, Celuka and more.
